  • Who is not considered a good candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair reduction works best with VERY DARK and VERY COARSE hairs. The darker the better, and the coarser the better. White, gray and blonde hairs indicate the absence of melanin and are impossible to treat with laser. Red hairs respond only partially and are considered too light to be effectively treated with lasers. It is possible to see different response rates on different body parts of the same client. For example, a female client may get 80+% reduction on underarms and brazilian, but around 40-50% reduction on her forearms, if those hairs are much finer than bikini and underarm hairs. Clients with hormonal abnormalities can use laser hair reduction as a tool to manage hair growth, but should be warned that treatments will be needed for life, unless the abnormalities are corrected. For example, women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) can use laser hair reduction as a managing tool for excess body and facial hair, but unless the condition is successfully treated, clients with PCOS will continue to need laser treatments for life. Other androgen-affecting medical conditions will have the same outcome for both men and women, so it is important to take these into consideration as one makes the investment in laser hair reduction. Certain medications and fitness supplements may increase hair growth, and may adversely affect or prolong the number of sessions required to achieve one’s goals in hair reduction. BLH recommends that clients consider these points before making the investment in laser hair reduction.
  • How do you have to prepare for laser hair removal?
The first thing that you might want to know about this treatment is that it is a medical procedure. It is not unlike chemical peel and waxing. The procedure should be done by somebody who has the necessary training and experience. That means you need to get your treatment done by a qualified, certified, and licensed medical professional. So, do check the qualifications of the Certified Permanent Makeup Artist and technicians present in the spa. Once the treatment date has been fixed, you may want to stop waxing on your skin. If you pluck or wax your skin, then the laser beams might not be able to target the hair follicles. Moreover, you may want to reduce your exposure to sunlight.
  • What can you expect during laser hair removal?
After your Certified Permanent Makeup Artist has confirmed that you are an ideal candidate for this medical procedure, your hair is slightly trimmed. Typically, a numbing gel or cream is applied to the affected area 30 minutes before the procedure is to begin. This is to enable you to ease the pain of the pulses of the laser beams that will hit on your skin. Clients have said that they feel a mild sting when the laser hits the skin. The device or equipment is programmed likewise, and the treatment is given.
  • How many sessions are required?
This entirely depends on the amount of hair that you require to remove. it also depends on your age and how thick the hair follicle is. Usually 6-8 sessions are required. This is why at Becca LH and Spa we have designed a discounted package of 7 sessions. Purchasing this package will save you a substantial amount of money.
